We love a room makeover here at the Weston’s, and this year I plan to do many, we had already done the lounge back in January, next on the list was Lily’s room, her carpet had seen better days, and her ballerina pink painted room was crying out for a change, she decided she didn’t want Mom’s favourite shabby chic furniture anymore ?so it was operation pre-teen room ?
With us running our house on one main income we live on a pretty tight budget, so I’m always, and I mean always on the look out for a bargain, and this room makeover came in at around £300 with a new carpet ??~
Lily fancied a mint green, we decided on Dulux, natural hints, (jade white) this was currently on offer for £20 at B&Q for the above super sized tin, but being super girly we were drawn to the super fresco very delicate sparkly wallpaper for her back wall, so pleased with how this went up, with a little help from my Dad of course, £20 for 2 rolls ??~
I’ve always been taught to do ceiling paint first, then walls, then wallpaper, then carpet, a regime we always work to, again me and Lily went out to choose the carpet, at 12 for your own safety your best to always get there approval ? She decided on a lovely grey fleck, end of roll again making it a good price for our tight budget £110 fitted, whoosh yes please,
After re homing the shabby chic furniture into my overcrowded office, (I couldn’t face parting with it ?) we searched the net for a large unit for the long back wall, I came across the these fab storage blocks/units over at IKEA but at over £100 I decided to check the local buy and sell pages before paying out, I love these pages on Facebook I always search for local gems, and this pink cupboard was just perfect, and at £45 it was quickly snapped up, and picked up,
Storage and shelving in a room is always a must, and Lily’s jewellery stand wasn’t coping under the strain of her million necklaces, so I thought this chunky £6.99 homebargains supposed to be coat hook would be perfect, I gave it a little makeover, a soft pink edging and a few pretty butterfly’s, the cupcake £1 yes £1 storage tubs again from homebargains were brilliant for rings and bracelets, sparkly canvas prints completed the look £8 from Tesco,
Bedlinen wise we already had a lovely mint green bed set from Aldi, that matched nicely, a textured baby pink throw from primark £15, and because Mom makes pretty creations, I added the one off cushion with matching wild flower print canvas, just a little bit of advertising for Bella’s ?
Tissue paper Pom pom’s were a must, and just £4 from eBay, grouped over her bed with some fancy Velcro cceiling clips, they have proved a pretty little feature, they are really easy to make up, don’t be put off when they arrive looking like little rulers, a bit of fiddling and Bob’s your uncle, well he’s mine ?
We kept to the pinks and mint green tones, the little elephant wall hanging was just £3.99 from the range, another one of Mom’s creations sit’s prettily on her shelf holding some artificial flowers, the chunky basket holds her bath products, the girl is mad on her bath bombs, love these baskets they are perfect storage tubs and £5 from Tesco it did the job beautifully,
Some careful shelf faffing, a big chunky blanket basket from Homesense my absolute favourite shop, reduced to £10, rose gold is a must this season and this lovely clock just fell in my basket at the range, £5.99 for a clock !! It was a must,
Curtains are new and from Next, I always check the clearance section online first and these were reduced from £60 to £27, with a blackout lining, lovely and thick, Lily did a grand job in scaling down her bits and bobs although the makeup scaling down didn’t really happen ??? but a girl can never have enough makeup at 12 ?
Not totalled it all up but I’m pretty confident it came in under the £300 mark, we still need a nice big mirror, one with lights has been put on the order list, the girl has style, I’ve not seen her much this week the new pad has been very popular, I hope it has the same effect on the older sons room, the next Weston makeover ❤~
